Collapse and expand sections

To get acquainted with the document, the best thing to do is to select the "Collapse all sections" item from the "View" menu. This will leave visible only the titles of the top-level sections.

Clicking on a section title toggles the visibility of the section content. If you have collapsed all of the sections, this will let you discover the document progressively, from the top-level sections to the lower-level ones.

Cross-references and related material

Generally speaking, anything that is blue is clickable.

Clicking on a reference link (like an equation number, for instance) will display the reference as close as possible, without breaking the layout. Clicking on the displayed content or on the reference link hides the content. This is recursive: if the content includes a reference, clicking on it will have the same effect. These "links" are not necessarily numbers, as it is possible in LaTeX2Web to use full text for a reference.

Clicking on a bibliographical reference (i.e., a number within brackets) will display the reference.

Speech bubbles indicate a footnote. Click on the bubble to reveal the footnote (there is no page in a web document, so footnotes are placed inside the text flow). Acronyms work the same way as footnotes, except that you have the acronym instead of the speech bubble.

Discussions

By default, discussions are open in a document. Click on the discussion button below to reveal the discussion thread. However, you must be registered to participate in the discussion.

If a thread has been initialized, you can reply to it. Any modification to any comment, or a reply to it, in the discussion is signified by email to the owner of the document and to the author of the comment.

Search engines and Sociam media

Once you have published your document on LaTeX2Web, you will see a yellow button next to your document that says "SEO". This means that you should prepare your document for search engines and social media. Clicking on the button brings you to the SEO configuration page.

1 Text entries

Although this may seem a bit complicated, actually the required data is basically the same for all media. There are two main items :

  • a title (30 to 60 characters)

  • a description (70 to 155 characters)

Additionally, you can specify the language of your document, and indicate a general topic.

The metadata for social media is more or less standardized and contains the same information as the metadata for the search engines. This means that all you have to do is fill the entries in the SEO page for your document, and you're done.

As a title, we suggest that you use your document title.

For the document description, and if your document has an abstract, the abstract is displayed on the SEO page to help you with the document description. In general, the first sentence of the abstract is sufficient.

Technically, your document is assimilated to a journal article in social media, and the topic entry in the SEO page corresponds to a general topic in an online journal. So, if your research topic is "quantitative finance", the general "Finance" topic would be fine.

Filling up the SEO entries will also ensure that readers (or you) will send the correct data when sharing the page to social media.

2 Image

Adding an image to your search engine and social media is highly beneficial. When you have submitted your text data for search engines, you are redirected to a page with all of your document media files. Clicking on one particular image will select it for social media. Do not use images with very large dimensions.

You can always add media files to your document by selected the "Upload media" in the "Action" dropdoqn menu of your document.
